Today, technical director Vincent Kortbeek announced the team for the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands. TeamNL consists of 46 athletes. The European Athletics Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn will kick off on Thursday evening, March 6, in a sold-out Omnisport with the mixed relay, and will run until Sunday, March 9, with the 4×400 meter relays as the final event.
“After an Olympic season, it is often a bit more challenging for athletes to find the motivation for the next competition. In the run-up to the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn, we have not seen much of that: all the athletes are looking forward to turning the Omnisport venue into an orange festival! With forty-six participants, we have managed to put together a large and diverse team where many disciplines will be contested for finals spots and medals. Our 4×400 meter teams are in great shape, and we are delighted with the addition of the mixed relay, where we aim to uphold our honour. Almost the entire selected team has experience at the highest level, which raises expectations. But primarily, everyone is incredibly motivated to shine in orange for a full Omnisport, with family and friends in the stands!” says Vincent Kortbeek.
The venue has undergone a huge metamorphosis with a completely renovated track, in the style of the European Championships. This upgrade of the track meets the highest international standards and provides a perfect surface for the performances of Europe’s elite athletes.
Moving People
“The 2025 European Athletics Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn will show where we stand as the Netherlands and what we stand for in the international athletics world. With these championships, our national athletes will be able to compete for medals at home, and we will set an example of an inclusive sporting event in the broadest sense of the word. As the host country, our mission ‘Moving People’ aims to move people in a responsible or emotional way. Sports, and athletics in particular, make life more beautiful!” says a proud Pieke de Zwart, general director of the Athletics Federation.
